Recently I have been itching to get back on the blog and start writing about events and share some photos that have never seen the light of day. 2024 was the first year I haven’t forced myself to get some posts out in January as an effort to keep my motivation for Drift Pizza progressing. For the past few years I have tried to reignite my passion for daily social media posts and general ‘growth’ of this as a platform. I think maybe I am coming to terms with the fact that what I actually want Drift Pizza to be isn’t a popular instagram page. I think 2019 me would have only wanted that, but things have changed over the last few years. I’m married, have a house, have a dog and now have a drift car of my own. I’ll never admit I am growing up, I’m still the guy that shows up to friends houses with 40s of OE (please bring back the glass bottles). But I do think I am growing as a person, and where I value my time has for sure shifted.
I remember going to events in 2016-2019 and taking an unfathomable number of photos so I could make sure every single driver has something to remember their event by. I can safely say those days are behind me at this point. And honestly, there are plenty of talented photographers and videographers out there who would be happy to give you a full spread of photos if you throw them some lunch and money for their time. What I want to get out of Drift Pizza at this point is a way for me to lock in the memories I have made along the way. If a consequence of that is a killer photo of your car then great, I am glad I was there to capture it looking its best!
So what does any of that have to do with Vibes!, especially an album that has been sitting in my wordpress drafts folder for over a year? Well, these are the images I want to start to share again. I have thousands of edited photos sitting on hard drives around my office that only I am enjoying. Even then it’s only some weird tech hoarding enjoyment, having peace of mind just knowing they exist and are there for me when I need them. I am not going to start making promises about upload schedules or anything of that sort. But I will say I have a reignited passion for sharing these images and making sure they are out in the world. Enjoy some throwbacks from night one of Vibes! 2022, these are all pulled off the X100 from the last hours of the night.
